Dinosaur at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Closes February 1, 2026

The classic Animal Kingdom dark ride, Dinosaur, will do its last roar on February 1, 2026, and there will be no repeats just because it’s the day before Groundhog Day. The thrill ride, with its dark twists and turns, its slight dips, and realistic animatronic dinosaurs, will then become a piece of Disney history.

Disney is closing the attraction to retheme the entire DinoLand U.S.A. into Tropical Americas, a land that will include attractions based on the animated movie Encanto and the Indiana Jones film series. In particular, the current Dinosaur track will be made into a new Indiana Jones ride. The ride already uses the same system as the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland in California.

The closure of Dinosaur also marks the official final closing of DinoLand U.S.A. The area has been closing in stages with Dinosaur and the surrounding character meet and greets and Restaurantosaurus the last to go. Earlier, Triceratops Spin and Chester and Hester’s store was shut, as were the midway games.

No word yet on when Tropical Americas will be open.

So here’s to one last ride on Dinosaur. It’s fast, it’s a blast, and after February 2, it will truly be…. in the past!!
